Chairmans Message

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the South Sudan Shippers Council. We are a business membership organization established in 2015 with the mandate to promote and protect the interests of importers, exporters, and all stakeholders within the supply chain.

Every business reaches a moment where growth encounters challenges — not because the products are inadequate or the workforce is weak, but because shipments fail to arrive on time, costs increase unexpectedly, and logistics become unreliable. In South Sudan, these are common challenges faced by businesses every day.

Questions such as “Where is my consignment?”, “Why am I being charged so much?”, and “When was the policy changed?” are frequently raised by shippers. We recognized the need for a better system — one where businesses can operate with confidence, supported by an organization that safeguards their interests, educates them on their rights and obligations in import and export trade, interprets and communicates government regulations and procedures, and provides a platform for networking, training, and sharing experiences. This is the role of the South Sudan Shippers Council.

However, our mission goes beyond organization alone. It is about building trust within the supply chain. When farmers receive supplies on time, harvests succeed. When shops receive stock promptly, jobs are protected. When customers receive their orders without delay, they return. Logistics is the lifeline through which economies thrive.

With a vision to facilitate trade, reduce unnecessary logistics costs, and improve supply chain efficiency within the region, we play a vital role in addressing logistical bottlenecks, promoting infrastructure development, and fostering regional integration.

Our membership comprises a diverse range of stakeholders, including manufacturers, importers, exporters, logistics service providers, trade facilitation agencies, financial institutions, and consulting firms.

We invite you to join us as we work together to address logistics challenges in South Sudan and across the region by becoming a member of the South Sudan Shippers Council.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Mr. Yowa Soso
Chairperson
