Clearance at Nimule

Clearing Procedure at Nimule

As soon as trucks cross the Elegu Uganda Border into South Sudan Customs at Nimule,
the manifest is collected and customs clearance procedures begin immediately.
Entries, declarations, verification, and payments are processed and completed
within approximately 4–5 days.

1. Opening of Job File

The Clearing Agent opens a job file and inputs shipment details including:

  • Truck Number / Transporter Details
  • Required Customs Documents:
    • Tax Exemption Documents
    • Commercial Invoice
    • Packing List
    • Certificate of Conformity (CoC)
    • Certificate of Origin (COO)
    • Bill of Lading (BL)
    • Safety Assurance Documents and Others

2. Document Verification

All submitted documents are verified to ensure compliance and conformity
with customs requirements and regulations.

3. Online Declaration Process

The Clearing Agent logs into the E-Government Online Portal for:

  • Declaration Processing
  • Tariff Computation
  • Invoice Generation

4. Payment of Fees & Levies

Payment is made for the following charges:

  • Customs Levies
  • Commerce Fees
  • National Bureau of Standards Fees
  • Parking Fees
  • Gate Pass Fees

5. Release to Nesitu Customs Checkpoint

The truck is released from Nimule and proceeds to
Nesitu Customs Checkpoint,
approximately 192 km from Nimule.

6. Weighbridge Verification

Trucks are weighed at the weighbridge facility upon payment of the required service fee.

7. Final Verification at Nesitu

Customs Authorities, the Bureau of Standards, and Commerce officials
verify all documents and shipment details.

8. Final Release

Upon successful verification and clearance, the truck is released
to proceed to its final destination.
