On May 13, 2026, the leadership of the South Sudan Shippers Council paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of River Transport at the Ministry of Transport in Juba. The delegation was led by Mr. Yowa Asholy Soso, Chairman of the Council.

The meeting aimed at formally introducing the Council and strengthening cooperation with the Directorate of River Transport. Discussions focused on South Sudan’s membership to Maritime Organization for Eastern, Southern and Northern Africa and the importance of joint advocacy to support the country’s admission into the regional body.

The two sides also discussed the need for continued collaboration between the Ministry and the Council to improve efficiency in the maritime and river transport sector, ease movement of goods, and reduce the cost of doing business within the logistics and supply chain sector in South Sudan.
