About Us

The Shippers Council of South Sudan is a business membership organization registered in 2015 under the Ministry of Justice South Sudan, it’s mandate  does not differ from other shippers councils around the world, it’s to advocate for a better policy and trade environment, educate shippers on their rights and obligations in import and export, interpret government regulations and procedures, and provide a platform for sharing experiences through networking forums and training.

Preamble:

The Shipper’s Council was born out of the need to address challenges that are facing the logistics chain and cargo owner.

MISSION:

Is “to understand the need of members and to be a source of the supply chain knowledge”.

VISION:
Is “to enhance an effective delivery strategy of cargo by all modes of transport at optimum cost”.

OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the Council are:-

  1. To represent the interests of its members throughout the entire logistics chain, inclusive of logistics matters related to people.
  2. To promote and develop the following:-
    1. Sound infrastructure regarding logistics, guarding against price structuring, the condition of services or the provision of services, as well as the quality of such available service;
    2. An efficient business environment regarding the entire logistics chain; and
    3. Sound business relationships within the logistics related industry
  3. Promote and put in place proper communication mechanisms regarding all logistics related aspects such as legislation, regulatory items and any other matters having a bearing on the performance of business of members within the industry;
  4. Ensure that all publications, press releases, public statements shall at all times be clear and the views expressed shall be that of the Council and shall in no way directly or indirectly be construed as that of the individual members of the Council; and
  5. To influence and advise on the nature and contents of education and training program in logistics in order to facilitate the optimum synergy between such programs and its relevance to the needs of the members of the Council.
